A few days back I was cleaning my work room and though a lot of things that stayed with me through all these years and places, I happened to come across this little yellow envelope. It was an Indian Post service mail envelope . Mail , ha ha has a very different meaning today, I smiled. A lot of children today would be probably oblivious of the fact that communication in this format was a normal way of living. I looked at the price - 60 ps with an additional stationary charge of 15 ps by the vendor , I guess, a total of 75 ps . My Goodness, today I just can think of an envelope travelling a distance in India at 75 ps. I remember we used to have classes and homework in school regarding posting letters and inland mail letters, or my Mom keeping some extra envelopes handy for when they are needed at a time, a general practice in every house hold during those days.
Well whatever it may be but the 75ps envelope surely took me through a time longer than the distance it would have travelled.
PS: Take note, there's a lot to be travelled down the nostalgia lane from my side if it interests you.
